The Co-operative Party in Northern Ireland was launched on 1 July 2009 at the Ulster Hall, Belfast with the General Secretary in attendance. Members present unanimously agreed to form the Co-operative Group Northern Ireland Co-operative Party and elected officers and an executive. It is worth noting that the Co-operative Party in Northern Ireland was already running informally up to this time, actively recruiting members and raising awareness of the Party and its work and objectives.
